The Comprehensive Guide on Grounding, Mindfulness, and Self-Soothing: Self-Regulation, Calming and Connecting
My own book containing over 90 grounding activities organised into different style sections, to help you find what works for you.
Use the techniques to help regulate, reduce anxiety and stress, or just deepen your awareness and mindfulness.

Trauma, Illness, Lifestyle
The Myth of Normal
An awesome book that explores the mind-body connection and how modern western culture is making us sick. If you are feeling like the life you lead isn’t serving you. If you feel like you are exhausted and wanting to explore, then this is the book. Gabor also works in generational and childhood theory as a framework for identifying common coping/living approaches that lead to illness.

Domestic Violence, Toxic Masculinity, Gender Norms
See what you made me do
Want to deep dive on the research, the statistics, some theory on the underpinnings of DV in Australia then this is the book. Wonderfully written and balanced without holding back. This book is for anyone interested in expanding their knowledge and awareness on this epidemic.

Mindfulness, Meditation Techniques, Joy, Happiness, Purpose, Suffering, Hate, Anxiety, Depression
No Mud, No Lotus
Books seem to come at just the right time every now and then. And this one had spot on timing. It explores the relationship between happiness and suffering, how either develops and provides some excellent (and very simple) techniques to get in touch with mind, body and spirit. Also how to manage things like stress, anger and anxiety in the moment they appear.
I’ll be keeping it close at hand for a while until the techniques become part of my daily routine.

Childhood Neglect, Abuse and Trauma. Family Dynamics and Challenges
Toxic Parents
Great book for those looking to find a way through challenging family relationships.
While the book structures around emotional, physical and sexual abuse, it includes a great level of real world cases from adults that experienced and worked through thier toxic family relationships. The behaviours, attitudes and typical scenarios that toxic family dynamics include. This makes it a great book to extract and apply to what you may have experienced or be experiencing.
The book also walks through dealing with and breaking the cycle.

Relationships, Self, Hope, Love, Strength, Loss, Self-Worth, Self-Nurture
A Gentle Reminder
Of all the authors I have read, Bianca hits the hardest. The number of times I feel this deep sense of calm or release as I read her books can’t be counted. Books I want to bookmark and highlight but if I did it would be most of every page.
Not educational in the way other books are, but the insights and perspectives are superb.
A book to read when you need reminders of who you are, who you can be and that this too will pass. A book to remind you to keep moving forward in whatever direction you have chosen and leave what has passed behind you with kindness and gratitude for the lessons.

Purpose, Living, Peace, Non-Attachment, Non-Ego, Living, Dying
The Tibetan Book of the Living and Dying
I picked this book up in a second-hand bookstore. It was one of my ‘extend perspective’ books.
It is split in two parts really, the first on living and the second on dying. There is some overlap when it comes to purpose and non-attachment. The second half covers a lot of the process and Tibetan Buddhist belief’s on death and the dying process including reincarnation. Amongst this it includes some wonderful practices to strengthen gratitude and non-attachment. The first half provides some wonderful explanations of arising, no-self and change. I enjoyed the first half and expect to re-read it sometime. It was a nice reminder on letting go and perspective in general.

Permission To Feel
I had this one in my list for a while and then someone I was chatting to in the community sector also recommended it.
For me, this book represents the connection between self-awareness, self-regulation and communication. The book talks to many of our relationships and how our emotional intelligence, awareness of ourselves and others, and vulnerability contributes positively to those relationships.
With a fuller language our awareness grows and enables understanding and growth.
